The college process is stressful, but college touring can and should be fun.

We believe there’s more to visiting a college than just the tour and information session, so we created Daytripper University. DTU itineraries make planning your college tours easy. We have all the details on where to stay near campus, the closest spots for that crucial morning coffee plus the best places to eat lunch, dinner and late-night bites. Current students weigh in on what they love about their school and offer helpful advice to prospective students.  Once your child is accepted use our itineraries for the next four years of Parents Weekends and catch up visits!

Take a college road trip!

Spending time on the road together is fun, and an excellent way to make your kids enthusiastic about the college search process.  College towns are dynamic, high-energy places, with fun shops, restaurants, and local attractions. To get an accurate impression of a school, we think it’s important to go beyond the quad to get a real feel for the neighborhood that may become your child’s home for the next four years. Also, touring is an excellent opportunity to bond with your soon to be gone high school student. Plan the trip together; treat it as an adventure, a mini vacation--be tourists—see the country and not just the colleges. Car rides and plane flights are an excellent chance for one on one time, while lunches and dinners allow time to reflect and discuss impressions of each school. Long after the tours blend together, you’ll continue to remember this special time shared.

Who are we?

We started Daytripper University after years of college touring with our kids, and too many bad hotels and terrible meals to count. With two recent college graduates, and two still in the thick of things, the college admissions process is still very fresh. Happy to relive our own Syracuse days, we have been hitting the road spending time on college campuses engaging with students and locals and eating our way through college towns. We are obsessed with travel, love doing the research, and nothing makes us happier than telling you all about our latest and greatest discoveries. Why spend countless hours planning your college tours--we've done all the work, so you don't have to!

Our resources cover everything from our ultimate dorm room checklist to experts’ advice on everything from how to create your college list, to crafting a killer essay to how to decorate your dorm room on a dime.  We've found the best graduation gifts, care packages to send for special occasions and where to shop for your college gear. For those students studying abroad, there is a section devoted to travel itineraries, many from our sister travel site--Daytripper 365.

Happy touring!
