Sarah Lawrence College

Sarah Lawrence College is a private liberal arts school located 30 minutes north of NYC in southern Westchester County, within walking distance of the charming village of Bronxville. Sarah Lawrence is a small school with an enrollment of just over 1,600, and though co-educational the female population makes up approximately 70% of the student body. Students love the non-traditional approach to education offered at Sarah Lawrence--there are no majors, only concentrations, allowing for the freedom to design one’s own course of study.

Coffee: You’ll see many students at popular Slave to the Grind, a retro coffee house located in the heart of downtown Bronxville that has won awards for some of Westchester’s best coffee.

Breakfast: Running late for your tour? Grab a quick bagel at Park Place Bagels or some French scones, baguettes or pastries at Chantilly Patisserie.

Lunch: Equally good at both lunch and dinner, lively bistro Underhills Crossing has a creative menu that has made it one of Bronxville’s most ‘in’ spots for over 20 years. Fill up on dumplings, homemade soups, and rice dishes at Dumpling and Noodle. Coals specializes in grilled pies cooked over an open flame.

— QUOTES FROM CAMPUS —

Sarah Lawrence is small and that’s a positive for me—you really get to know your teachers, I am on a first name basis with most of my professors!
— Lucy
At Sarah Lawrence, I realized that everybody was already what they were going to be. The painters were painting, the writers writing, the dancers dancing. And nobody wore any makeup. The art was uppermost.
— Alice Walker (notable alumna)
