Established in 1870, Ohio State is ranked high among the public universities. Located in Columbus, OSU is one of the larger universities hosting over 58,000 students. The academics are strong matched only by the Buckeye school spirit. Although the school is large, students feel a sense of loyalty and community.

Stay: Blackwell Hotel is right on campus, offering excellent service and obvious convenience. Book a stay at The Holiday Inn Express located in the heart of Columbus. Situated on North High Street, in the trendy Arena District, check into the Hyatt Regency.

Coffee: Right on campus, head to the Campus Grind for your morning coffee and a pastry. If you're a Starbucks fan, there is one right across from campus on North High Street. Cup o Joe attracts both students and teachers for their small batch roasts.

Breakfast: Katalina's is a parent favorite for lunch or breakfast.Students say that everything is delicious at Northstar Cafe. Another student favorite, Hangover Easy believes that “breakfast cures all.”

Lunch: For burgers (lunch or dinner), there is no better place than Thurman's Cafe. Serving incredible BBQ from their food truck, head to Ray Rays.  Located in the German Village, Katzinger’s Deli is a sandwich mecca serving Reubens, BLTs and Clubs. Harvest Pizza is the best pizza in town - hands down! Get a taste of living on campus and check out Sloopy’s Diner in the school Union.



Casual:  Wolf’s Ridge Brewing is a family owned establishment featuring craft beers and a menu that has something for everyone. For authentic Japanese, head to Kihachi. The Sycamore is a favorite neighborhood spot. We hear the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich is a must order. The Short North district on High Street in the city (about 1 mile from campus) has a great choice of places to eat and drink.


A Step Up: Hyde Park Steak House and Hudson 29 are well known for their excellent steaks. The Guild House serves tasty American cuisine in a sophisticated and beautiful environment. You are sure to love the Italian fare and atmosphere at Marcella's.

Late Night Snack: Raising Cane’s is a consistent student go-to spot for excellent fried chicken. Open 24 hours a day, get your sugar fix satisfied at Buckeye Donuts, serving 32 varieties of yummy donuts! Graeter’s Ice Cream, famous nationwide for their Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip flavor, is worth the trip! (They ship if you get cravings for it once you get home—and trust us—you will)!

Local Attractions: One of the oldest running markets in Columbus, North Market sells everything from organic produce to jewelry and furniture. During the warmer months on Saturdays, you can visit the farmers market on the outdoor plaza.
