When Can I Check-in?

First Years & Transfer students

  • All first year and transfer students attending Mustang Corral check-in on Wednesday, August 16. 
  • In order to manage traffic, elevator loads, and parking, each student will have a window of time to check in. 
  • Students will select their check in time window starting July 25 at 12 Noon on the housing portal. NOTE:  this is a new date and time due to a technical delay.

Returning Residents.

Check-in is Saturday, August 19 from 9 AM to 3 PM

  • Residents arriving on August 19th do not need a specific time window.

 

Arriving on Sunday? Please check in at your community from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Arriving on Monday? Please contact our office to let us know! Check in at the service desk at Virginia-Snider between 8 AM to 4 PM.

Students attending International AARO or participants in sponsored programs requiring early arrival will receive information by email regarding their check in date, time and location.

Please make travel arrangements to arrive on campus during check-in hours. Check-in at other times are not be available.

Can I check-in early?

No, individual requests for early arrival are not available. Some residents may be eligible for early arrival due to their University-sponsored involvement in Mustang Corral, varsity athletic practices, or other University business. Early arrival requests are submitted to RLSH by the sponsoring department or on-campus organization. 

When is Mustang Corral check-in?

Going to Mustang Corral? First-year and transfer students who have registered for Corral may check-in at their residential commons on Wednesday, August 16 during their check in window. (Sign up for a check in window starting July 25th on the housing portal)

Indiana Move In

The residence halls will open for fall semester Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 8 a.m. Please plan to arrive before 10 p.m. to check in.

New students with a housing assignment are to report directly to their assigned residence hall. Short term parking for unloading vehicles will be available in the fire lanes. Parking enforcement in the CH zones will begin at 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 20.

New students without an assignment must come to the assignment office at 801 North Jordan Ave. during business hours.

Beginning July 15, residents wishing to move in August 13 – 15, must register for Experience IU. An additional housing charge of $40 per day for moving in on August 13 – 15 will be billed to the resident's bursar account.

Important Note: All residents must schedule their arrival time through the online check-in system, which will be available in June.  This information is provided to assist families in planning, but we strongly encourage you not to make specific travel plans until you have an assignment and have selected your move-in time online.

Move-In times vary by residence hall. Details regarding the sign up process will be emailed to incoming students’ Crimson email accounts.

Campus residents assigned to the Lofts will not select a move-in time. Detailed information will be sent to Lofts residents by email.

*Early Arrivals (Aug. 10 and 11)

Approved early arrival activities are:

  • sorority recruitment
  • Million Dollar Band
  • student athletes as approved by coaching staff
  • Camp 1831 (dates vary from main schedule)
  • Alabama Action
  • Outdoor Action
  • Black Belt Action
  • Health Action
  • Biology Boot Camp

The leaders of these groups will send students’ information to HRC staff, so please follow up with the appropriate group leader for more information and details.

Because there are no fraternity recruitment events scheduled prior to the end of Move-In, fraternity recruitment is not approved for early arrivals.

 

Mail and Packages

How can I receive mail and packages when I live on campus?

For the safety and security of HRC residents, mail and packages are not delivered directly to the residence halls. All deliveries are made to the Ferguson Mail Center, operated by the Campus Mail Service. Students do not need to rent a mailbox to receive packages on campus. For more information, please visit the Ferguson Mail Center webpage, or call Campus Mail Service at (205) 348-MAIL.
